Who is Eligible for The Trust Fellowship Program? +

The Trust Fellowship Program is exclusive to Former NFL Players with Two (2) Or More Credited Seasons, as defined by the Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle NFL Player Retirement Plan Office.

Can applicants apply for more than one (1) Fellowship Position? +

Yes! We encourage players to apply for any Fellowship positions that fit within their career interests.

I’m a potential applicant, but unsure if any available positions are a good fit for me. What should I do? +

The Trust Fellowship Program was designed to provide players with short-term placements at host companies to better define their career interests and goals.

If you are unsure of your next career step, you may be eligible to activate your Trust benefits to access career services assistance through The Trust’s Career Partners AthLife and ManpowerGroup, which includes individual assistance with resume and cover letter building, skills assessments, mock interviewing, and more. We welcome your feedback! While we strive to offer a variety of opportunities, please let us know if there are specific industries, companies, and locations that interest you. What does the application and interview process entail? +

Each Fellowship position's application and interview process are unique to the requirements of the host company. However, most applications will require submission of a current resume, cover letter, and other demographic information.

Once submitted, selections for interviews will be determined and contacted at the sole discretion of the host company. While we hope to provide each applying former player with the the opportunity to interview, this will be determined solely off the volume of applications and demand for each position.

Are any resources available to assist applicants who do not have a resume or interview experience? +

The Trusts’ Career Partner, ManpowerGroup, provides individual assistance with resume and cover letter building, skills assessments, mock interviewing, and more.

How are interviews determined and selections made? +

Applicants selected for interviews will be determined by host company. All rounds of interviews will occur virtually via phone and/or video conferencing. If chosen for an interview, you will be contacted directly by a hiring manager from the host company with additional details.

The final hiring decision is made at the sole discretion of the host company.

How many times may Fellows apply for, or complete a Fellowship Experience? +

There is no limit to the number of terms a former player can apply for or serve as a Fellow.

Are full-time job opportunities available at the end of the Fellowship Program? +

Participation in the Fellowship Program does not guarantee a job offer or placement at the end of the program.

Where do Fellows live? Can their families join during the experience? +

The location of each individual fellowship opportunity is at the discretion of the host company. Participating companies may choose to offer in-person, virtual, or hybrid fellowship opportunities.

If the fellowship position is in-person or hybrid, Fellows will be expected to re-locate to the city of the host company’s headquarters for the duration of their experience.

The re-location of a Fellow’s family with them to the host city is not barred, and the decision is at the discretion of the applicant.

Is relocation assistance provided to Fellows? +

No – temporary relocation to the host company’s city will be the sole responsibility of the Fellow. However, Fellows are encouraged to utilize one of the many moving assistance discounts available through the NFLPA Former Player Services Department. Some offerings include discounts for UPS, FedEx, and PODs.

Although payment for and assistance with housing procurement are not available as part of the program, Fellows are encouraged to seek guidance from their host company point of contact on suggested areas to live and potential short-term housing options in the host city.

Are Fellows Paid as part of their Fellowship Experience? +

Each host company is required to offer Fellows a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly stipend depending on their company’s pay cycle. The stipend is subject to change based on company, industry, or geographic location and is subject to federal, social security, and state income tax withholdings.

Do Fellows have access to Employer Benefits?

The Trust Fellowship is a part-time experience, maxing at 30-hours per week. Applicants should not expect to receive medical, dental, vision, or any other employee benefit as part of their tenure in the program.

Although the aforementioned benefits will not be provided to Fellows as part of their experience, on-site gym access, meals, transportation benefits, and certain other ‘soft’ benefits may be available depending on the on-site offerings of the host company.

Does the Program offer flexible start dates? +

Each available position will list a specific start date for its experience. We ask that applicants respect the company’s request to start on that specific date and to please weigh the start date with your availability prior to submitting an application.

While some companies hire during specific times of the year, new Fellowship opportunities will be posted throughout the year.

How long does the Fellowship Experience last? What occurs if a Fellow cannot complete the full duration of their experience? +

All Fellowship Experiences will last at minimum six (6) months, up to a maximum of 1 year from start date with the host company.

If a personal matter arises which may prevent you from starting, or completing, the duration of your Fellowship Experience, please contact The Trust via the information available on this site, as well as your primary contact at your host company as soon as possible.

What will a Fellow’s daily schedule and routine look like as part of the experience? +

Each Fellow’s daily schedule will be determined by the host company and job duties will vary greatly between the variety of opportunities offered by the host companies. As mentioned, Fellows will be expected to work up to a maximum of 30-hours per week. Applicants are highly encouraged to discuss the specifics of each position with the host company during the interview process.
